Unusual Projects

As an artist I am sometimes asked to do some unusual projects.
Over recent weeks two such unusual and interesting commitments have come my way.

The first was to honour the life of a fellow artist John Garozza who sadly died at the early age of 55. John was a wonderful generous spirit who devoted a great deal of time, energy and money to the Victoria park Centre for the Arts.  One of John's wishes was that his coffin be decorated with gargoyles  a subject which featured significantly in John's sculpture works.

Myself and SonjaVujic undertook to carry out this task for John. It was a privilege to be able to honour John's life in this small way.

The second was to design table decorations for a Pop Up Restaurant which was run by
 'At the Table'

The theme: 'A Beastly Winter Lunch' was held at Mondo De Carne, Inglewood.

The table decorations reflected the menu:

What next I wonder!!??

Banner for City of Gosnells 2012

I was asked to design a banner for the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) Banners in the Terrace for City of Gosnells with members of ‘The Castle’ Youth Centre Thornlie.
This project involved the running of a series of workshops with a group aged 11 to 17 years. The participants made individual pieces of collage artwork from ‘Post it’ notes glitter and pens.

They also took photographs of each other. The resulting artworks and photography were montaged digitally and the result was printed for display on St Georges Terrace during the WALGA annual Conference (August 2012).

New Banner Series for Bentley 2012

The theme for this series ‘We Love Bentley’ is intended to project a positive image of the community around Brownlie Towers Bentley as the State Government continues to redevelop and regenerate the area. The banners portray community members and community supports in portrait form. A broad range of community members were canvassed for participation in this project.
